If you ask me, I would say that every real gamer should attend Electronic Entertainment Expo (known as E3) or the very smallest he should track it. This top event in the video game industry has been held since 2017, and it gathers all specialists involved in this field, including developers, hardware producers, publishers of the games and game-related products. It is the largest and coolest event of the year. In 2019 the E3 focused on live service games. If you are a fan of Destiny, you should be interested in the theme. Of course, the press conferences were full of discoveries. It was the first time when some plans were announced, though some of them were not a surprise due to leakage. Still, there was not a spoiled announcement. Now I am going to remember the most important ones in my thinking.

A crowning moment for Keanu Reeves

Another comeback of an actor beloved by millions can be seen not only in cinematography but in gaming also. Soon, we’ll see him in first-person shooter Cyberpunk 2077. This video game will release in the spring of 2020, but now we can judge on a demo presentation and trailer that it will be the coolest one. I sincerely believe that it will be a success with Keanu Reeves as a character, Johnny Silverhand, a well-known hero you can see in the original Cyberpunk game. Reeves appeared at E3 and caused the yelling of the people present at the conferences. I am eager to see all those actions with my favorite actor. It is expected to be fast-paced but not very aggressive including romance. In general, the producer promises a lot of options allowing to induce characters with various properties.

Amalgamation

Independence is not always beneficial in business. Tim Schafer’s Double Fine Productions proved that claim and joined Xbox Game Studios family. Being simply purchased by Microsoft it continues to generate out-of-the-box ideas together with its colleagues. You should know Double Fine if you play stunning adventure games “Psychonauts, “Broken Age” and “Grim Fandango Remastered”. I hope that sharing the vision of gaming of Microsoft this developer will not lose its unique approach which was built during almost 20 years of its success.

Star Wars Again

Star Wars theme is everywhere. I cannot say that I am delighted with this fact, but still this is a surprise of an exhibition. Lego suggests a new game with stories following all films. The Skywalker Saga was announced at E3 2019. And it keeps up another suspense being the only video game which will be offered next year. Again, I am not a fan of Star Wars, but Lego design is expected to be fun. I hope that the developer has managed to mix action and comedy.

Xbox Console Opens New Frontiers

I am not surprised by Project xCloud. It was announced at the E3 press conference. But only now I realize the changes and feel impressed. You will get plenty of freedom in the nearest future. Xbox console with a game collection is expected to be used as a game server meaning that you can get access to a console game from your mobile device. That is almost the biggest surprise of this event. You will not pay any subscription fee to use this option and stream any game you have on Xbox. The effect can be compared to PlayStation 4 with its Remote Play.

Blot on the Landscape

It would not be fair to remember only good news. E3 2019 brought some disappointment also. This is about Commander Keen developed in the format of a free-to-play game for mobile devices. Bethesda made its best, but indeed we get the awful result. This is a failure, and I hope it will be corrected somehow in the future. The most unpleasant thing as to me is cartoon look chosen for bending card-based strategy. Even if you are a fan of the origin, you will be upset because there is nothing in common.

Games We Know

Well, and of course, there were plenty of announcements of sequels and other franchises. You can get ready for the next Watch Dogs game with complete reimagining in an open-world action-adventure game. The developer promises wider capabilities and impressive controls and skills.

I’m waiting for the remake of Final Fantasy VII made by a new team. It will deliver a powerful combat system with a lot of actions in real time. There are elements allowing for mixing old and fresh functions, choosing them in the menu and develop a successful strategy. Even if you did not play the origin, you’d better turn your attention to this release.

Another sequel is coming. This time the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be continued. I cannot tell you the title of the new game, but it is expected to be a direct sequel with a completely different world.

I would mention the Banjo-Kazooie franchise developed by Microsoft and Contra game franchise combining arcade-style run-and-gun action and third-person shooter.

Everything You Should Know

Almost all announcements at the E3 worth your attention. I have described just some of them in short, but really every news is a subject for detailed discussion. The fact that Xbox announced Next-Gen Console is already the event. And the participation of Keanu Reeves in the game is the coolest surprise among the others. Well, unfortunately, there is no game with James Bond. And I would be glad to see something new within this topic. Perhaps, this scenario will be realized next year. We’ll see. Still, E3 is the most exciting time of 2019 for me, and I think for all gamers too.
